It’s inevitable that most companies will move to the cloud. But COVID-19, government adoption and other worldwide events have conspired to ensure that transition will come faster than anyone predicted. And alliance ecosystems are going to play a pivotal role.
To explain why, I spoke with Shivkumar Subramaniam, former Vice President and Geography Head at Mindtree.
Shivkumar went over:
- How COVID-19 is fast-tracking cloud migration
- The challenges worldwide to cloud migration
- Why government adoption is the biggest driver of cloud migration
“There are seven steps to take into a cloud migration. You start with a consultative approach, you see, understand the application. How many of those applications are cloud ready? Are they ready to be moved? Are they can they be left unchecked? Or there is a complete rewrite of the code for it to be ported to the cloud? Having done that there are options do you look at the public cloud? Do you look at a private cloud? Having done that, then you drive the entire migration strategy, then you put the security overlay, and then you put the continent and the cloud ops and the management framework. So that's a long process. ” - Shivkumar Subramaniam
